icat-fs-sync 1.0

icat-fs-sync reconciles the raw data on the shared filesystem of the ESRF with the ESRF ICAT database.

Data acquisition normally registers datasets with ICAT automatically. When that fails, the data is still on the shared filesystem but the ICAT database does not know about it. icat-fs-sync discovers experimental sessions in the ESRF data directories, compares what it finds with what ICAT holds, reports the differences and optionally registers what is missing.

It is an ESRF-specific tool: it assumes the ESRF raw data format, the ESRF ICAT deployment and a Beacon server for its configuration.

icat-fs-sync has been developed by the Software group of the European Synchrotron.

Warning

Registering data on behalf of the acquisition system requires expert knowledge and is normally done by ICAT admins.
